Many visitors to this blog will know about the international award winning composer, poet and playwright Ailis Ni Riain. Over the past few years I have collaborated on several of Ailis’ major new works and have been involved in four world premieres of her music. This time is a little different as Ailis is working with the award winning visual artist Nicola Dale.
They have created INTONE: an amazing installation, showing in Durham. As you can see below, Nicola is showing her work representing the Prince Bishops of Durham, whilst Ailis is presenting her music for solo trumpet and adding specially written poems, to complete the installation. This time, I won’t be appearing in person as I have recorded the playing for the work on previous occasions. The istallation is a Brass:pitch comission and will be showing as part of the Durham International Festival. Please go along if you get the chance.
In fact, ‘The Consequences of Falling’ by Ailis Ni Riain, performed by Brendan Ball & Heather Elizabeth Tudor is soon to be available on CD
