Jonnie, Toko & me at me towards the end of the Saturday night session of the Liverpool St George’s Hall Beer Festival
Today is the inaugural Liverpool St. George’s Hall Beer festival. The VIP event today will launch five whole days of choice beer drinking, live music, food, the launch of ‘Liverpool Gin’, cider, wine… Sales have exceeded all expectations and the event will now become an annual festival and will take it’s place as one of the premier real ale celebrations in the UK, if not the world!
Regular visitors to this blog will already know that I am corporately sponsored, in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra by the Liverpool Organic Brewing Company. So, as the Liverpool Organic Brewing Company Principal Trumpet, I will be having the world premier of two of my trumpet ensemble fanfares aired this evening to open this leviathan beer festival, as the event is owned and presented by Liverpool Organic Brewing Company. One piece will be played by the Festival Trumpet Ensemble as the opening ceremony is led by the Lord Mayor Of Liverpool and the second will herald the arrival of Television Personality and former top level footballer Ray Stubbs. Ray’s daughter, Hannah, works for Liverpool Organic, so I’ve dedicated the second fanfare to her. Both bespoke works have been commissioned specially for the proceedings by Mark Hensby, Managing Director of Liverpool Organic Brewery, especially to mark this special occasion with all the pomp and ceremony that it deserves.
Unusually, I won’t by playing the trumpet myself but will by taking part in the beer festival in a supervisory capacity!
Oh, yes…
