For the next two days the RLPO will be showing Pirates of the Caribbean in Liverpool Philharmonic hall, whilst performing the soundtrack underneath the giant cinema screen supplied by Disney. The performances will be conducted by Hollywood legend Richard Kaufman.

Richard Kaufman and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, rehearsing ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’.
Just for interest, there will be sell out crowds for both shows, with the remaining tickets expected to be snapped up on the day, and a real big noisy brass section. The score, by Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer, calls for four trumpets, eight horns, five trombones and tuba. A vast percussion section will also be on display. A good old noisy film this one!

The orchestra has worked with Hans Zimmer previously as the RLPO played the recording for the soundtrack of the award winning film ‘Letter To Brehznev’.
Wish I was there for this one. You know I love brass and film music! 🙂
