Ay last, some good nrews for trombonists! The following news appeared on ‘The Violin Channel‘. It would seem that a new study, by ‘‘, seems to indicate that playing a musical instrument; the trombone, drums and violin in particular, can help with weight loss. Whatever next?!


New Study Finds Playing Violin Sheds 2 Glasses of Wine per Hour

A recent study conducted by has found that on average 1 hour of violin playing burns approximately 175 calories – the equivalent of 1/2 a Snickers Bar or 2 glasses of wine.

Playing the cello for the same length of time sheds approximately 140.

Drums and trombone provide the highest musical cardiovascular workout – at around 280 and 245 calories per hour.
