Blowing Your Own Trumpet…

To blow your own trumpet

The origin of this expression takes places during the Middle Ages in villages when heralds attracted attention of all citizens blowing a horn or a trumpet in order to announce that kings, artists and merchants were arriving.

Nowadays, this idiom is applied to a person who wishes to emphasise merits and achievements; such as symbols of certain prestige and recognition.
